Torrance Fire officials want to make sure you have the opportunity to receive special training for an emergency situation.
Registration is still open for the Community Emergency Response Team training. This academy trains locals on how to respond to disasters. CERT members can then assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
People who receive this training have a better idea of the potential threats to their community and take the right steps to lessen the effects of hazards on themselves, their home or workplace. The national level training offers hands-on exercises that cover fire suppression, light search and rescue to terrorism.
The best part it’s free for Torrance residents and business members of the Torrance Community. The next training one is scheduled for March 20-24.
