Miss Carson & Miss Teen Carson
Scholarship Pageant of Excellence 2017
All applications must be submitted no later than Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. along with your $20.00 entry fee at the City of Carson Treasurer’s Office located at City Hall, 701 E. Carson St., Carson CA. After submitting your application, you will be contacted and informed of the orientation and workshops schedule.
Applicants will also be provided with your “Entry Packet.” All applicants are required to attend the orientation and all workshops that will be held at the Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald Community Center located at 801 E. Carson St., Carson, CA 90745. The orientation will be your opportunity to learn the details of the Scholarship Pageant of Excellence as well as ask questions pertaining to the pageant. From that point forward you must adhere to all pageant guidelines. Workshops will provide in-depth insight to all aspects of the pageant.
Miss Carson and Miss Teen Carson represent young women who are confident, intelligent, honest, hardworking and compassionate. They must possess excellent communication skills and strive to help others in their community. Titleholders are positive role models, self-motivated and gracious hosts and guests.
The primary expectation of Miss Carson and Miss Teen Carson is to be the hosts of the City of Carson. They must be prompt to all City of Carson scheduled appearances and special events, and all pageant-related appointments throughout the year unless prior arrangements are made with the Scholarship Pageant of Excellence Director. They must exhibit courtesy and respect towards everyone including all members of the City of Carson Scholarship Pageant of Excellence Committee and all involved with the pageant. In addition, they must maintain the level of dignity and poise that the positions signify.
Reigning titleholders of Miss Carson and Miss Teen Carson must have educational goals. They must possess an eagerness to accept the responsibilities that the position carries and prioritize those responsibilities over other social functions. Titleholders must also be young women who not only believe in themselves and their future, but in the potential and future of others.
The runners-up to Miss Carson and Miss Teen Carson may be required to attend events in the City of Carson throughout their year of competition and must keep in constant contact with the Scholarship Pageant of Excellence Committee.
