Scenes from the FreeSATPREPWorkshop with instructor Jordan Vargas from Study Smart Tutors.
The FreeSATPrepWorkshop hosted by Each One – Teach One Alliance for Academic Access, Achievement and Success and The Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, took place Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Bethel AME Los Angeles Church
The FREE SAT PREP WORKSHOP provides greater opportunities for students to excel on the SAT Examination. More than 2 million US students took the SAT in 2015. Of those, more than 40 percent were minorities. Despite the increase in minority student testing, there remains a significant lag between the overall academic achievements with their counterparts. This is due largely to the expense related to SAT Prep Workshops, which can run into the hundreds of dollars.
The overwhelming response to the FREE SAT PREP WORKSHOP indicates that these students have a passion to achieve and desire to improve their SAT scores.
“Some of the achievement gap is really a test preparation gap,” according to Dr. Chris L. Hickey Sr., Executive Director of Each One Teach One and Admired Man Leadership Institute. “Offering SAT workshops is an important component in making sure all students have access to the best colleges and universities in the country.”
Thank you to event sponsors: Dr. Chris Hickey and Each One, Teach One and Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center partners Yvette Bailey and UCLA, Gina Smith and SPMG Media, Cheryl Branch and LA Metropolitan Churches and Eric Johnson and Educate CA.
