Volunteers needed for 24/7 USO center that helps troops feel at home at LAX

The USO center that provides around-the-clock hospitality to active service members traveling through Los Angeles International Airport needs volunteers to keep up with an influx of troops.

The nonprofit Bob Hope USO expects to see nearly 100,000 military personnel and their families this year at its flagship center, one of only six around the world that operate 24 hours, seven days a week.

The center across the street from Terminals 1 and 2 offers service members with downtime a snack bar, computer lounge, nap room, theater with hundreds of DVDs, children’s play room, secure luggage storage and a host of other free amenities to help them feel at home.

The organization says even volunteers who can only commit to a few hours a week are greatly needed.
