On November 17, 2015 the City Council called a Special Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 for the question of the recall of City Clerk Jim Dear and the election of a succeeding city clerk if the question passes.
The term of office is from the date of the election until the end of term in March 2019.
There is no cost to run, however the candidate must be a registered voter in the City of Carson prior to pulling papers to seek the seat.
To become a candidate one must:
Be a Carson resident registered to vote in Carson.
Complete a nomination form issued by the city election official with no less than 20 and no more than 30 signatures of registered voters no later than close of business on Thursday, December 10, 2016 along with other legal paperwork including:
Ballot Designation Worksheet; , Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700); Candidate Statement (optional) and Statement Deposit, Foreign Language Translation Policy (optional) and California FPPC Campaign Filing documents if raising funds to campaign for office.
